Press Release 23/05/17
On behalf of AL-Furqan Masjid and AL-Furqan Centre as a Muslim community, we are absolutely saddened and devastated about the terrifying and horrific attack that happened last night in Manchester Arena. Our thoughts, sympathies and prayers are with the family and friends of those who lost their lives and the injured.
What happened was a mindless attack on innocent people and we as a Muslim community in Manchester are united in its grief and determined to stand against this dreadful attack.
We thank and applaud the emergency services for their efficient response to the incident, our local taxis, hoteliers and the local mosque that open their doors to victims. At this most testing of times, we strongly urge the Muslim Community to continue offering services and assistance in any way possible to aid those who have been affected by this attack. We also urge all members of the Muslim community to cooperate with the Police and related authorities to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
We also greatly appreciate the advice and support we have received from the authorities, advising us to remain vigilant and cautious and to avoid travelling alone.
